Hair loss
The hair is an annex to skin which appears at the 4-5 month of intrauterine life. Its growing is not continuous but cyclic (it has 3 phases: anagen, catagen and telogen). As it is constantly renewed daily hair loss is normal; but, when this loss increases it is called alopecia or baldness.
The hair loss happens when there’s a deficient nutrition of the pillose bulb which may be of different natural causes: hormonal changes, infections, emotional or physical stress, fatigue, hypocaloric diet, medicines (anticoagulant and anovulatory ones), surgery, mechanic aggressions (strong brushes, aggressive shampoos, hair buns, etc), age, genetic factors, seasonal, etc.
There are two types of alopecias:
Alopecias in men: This is very common. It is due to the androgens. Its progression is the most difficult to stop.
Alopecias in women: There’s generally a hair slimming in the frontal and parietal regions. It’s rarely total. There can be postpartum alopecias, in which the hair falls due to hormonal changes given during the pregnancy (the estrogens protect hair loss).
